This tutorial will cover how to control the mono/stereo properties of the podcasting microphones in Garageband.
By default the microphones will both feed into a single track in Garageband in a stereo format. This means that if there are two participants in the podcast one persons voice will come out of the left speaker and the other persons voice will come out of the right channel. If you are by yourself the easiest way to avoid this problem is to put both microphones in front of you as you speak. If, however, you want to have two participants on the podcast without having a stereo effect then follow the steps below.
1.) Create a new track. To do this select TRACK > NEW TRACK. Next select Real Instrument and click create. You will see your new track appear called No Effects. If you want to add an effect to the track do so now in the info panel for that track.

2.) Select your new track and in the info panel change the input value to Channel 1 (Mono) next select the other voice track which applies to you (male or female) and set the input value on that track to channel 2 (mono) this will mix your two microphone inputs so that they are no longer in a stereo format.

3.) Push the record button for both of the tracks you just worked with so that Garageband knows to record two tracks when you push the master record button.

4.) Record your podcast as normal.
