This is a new piece of tech I thought would work well for local storage solutions. Fusion-io has basically compressed a storage area network into one PCI-e card for use on a local machine. The speed will be incredible with probably minimal costs. This would replace a costly external fiber solution. Initially the largest size is 360GB but with a 600+ GB upcoming. Using this in conjunction with backup storage is a great way to edit video.

At an initial price of $30

At an initial price of $30 per Gigabyte in Q108 this is out of most peoples' price range.

80G = $2,400
640G = $19,200

The technology will continue to get better and drop in price. A traditional fiber and RAID solution still offers you the better video solution.

Wow, I was unaware that it

Wow, I was unaware that it was going to be so pricey. Hopefully in the future this will come down in price enough to add more competition to other established options, which always bodes well for the consumer.
