DC Consultant Receives Award

Ryan Wetzel, a Digital Commons consultant at University Park, and his independent production group received a bronze Telly Award in the Social Issues category for their documentary entitled "Junk: You Can Call It Trash". Ryan worked on the documentary as a cinematographer and assistant editor. "Junk:You Can Call It Trash" takes an in-depth look at an annual tradition in Huntingdon, PA. In early spring, residents put their large unwanted items outside of their homes on the sidewalk for pick-up by the borough when the weekends. Residents will take this time to peruse their neighbor's "junk" for items they might want to use. "Junk: You Can Call It Trash" interviews the participants and examines the social and environmental impact of the tradition.

The Telly Awards (www.tellyawards.com) are a national competition and they "honor the very best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the Web."

Matt Frank, a Digital Commons campus consultant, has also received honors from the Telly Awards for his work in commercial television production.
