Exporting from iMovie 06 for YouTube and Blogs

Getting your movie from iMovie to your Blog is a two part process that first entails uploading the movie to YouTube before you can embed it into a Blog page.

1. You will need to Share your iMovie as a QuickTime with the following Expert Settings: MPEG-4 Video with a Custom Size of 478 x 359 and AAC mono audio at 44.1kHz.

2. Once you have exported this QuickTime movie, it is easily uploaded to YouTube by logging in to your YouTube account. (If you don’t have one, you will need to sign up for one at youtube.com and follow the confirmation instructions sent to the email address you registered for the service.)

3. Select the Upload button in the corner of the screen. This will open the Video Upload Screen where you Title the movie and add metadata Tags. Once you have done this click Upload Video at the bottom of the screen.

4. Choose the movie that you previously exported from iMovie as a QuickTime movie and upload it to the YouTube service.

5. When the upload has completed, YouTube will provide you with some html code to embed the movie into your website or Blog. You will need to select this code and copy it.

6. To add the previously copied code to you Penn State blog, you will need to login at http://blogs.psu.edu and paste the code into your blog editor. Make sure that you change the format to None when you paste the code, or else it won’t be parsed correctly. Then Publish your changes.

7. When you view your blog, the YouTube movie will now be embedded into the blog. It’s a good idea to view it from here and makes sure that it works correctly.
