MKTG 220: An Introduction to Selling Techniques

Activity Description

The students are required to turn in a proposal for the product they are intending to sell, within the first 5 weeks of class. Once this is approved they draft a paper that is written for the buyer of their product. From this paper, the script for their video is created and shooting takes place during the last month of class, making their video the capstone project for the class.

Objectives

To demonstrate buying and selling techniques that have been learned throughout the semester. Recording these role plays allows students to reflect on their own techniques and gain a new perspective on the sales process.

Project Stages

Students will be paired in groups of two, and record their selling demonstrations in the Digital Commons studio. Students are only graded on their performance as a “Seller”…. But they also must perform as a buyer for their partners.

Requirements:
1. They first complete the Role Play Paper Outline which is designed to make both partners think through the scenario related to the role play before they come into the studio for videotaping.
2. Create a 6-10 minute role play using the Digital Commons studio and equipment.
