On behalf of Information Technology Services we would like to thank everyone for their overwhelmingly positive response to the new Digital Commons initiative. As you know, the Digital Commons initiative has been designed to provide every location of the University with a centrally managed digital media studio that can support both faculty and students in their use of digital media.
We have committed to installing up to 15 Digital Commons Studios during the 2007-2008 fiscal year, with the remainder of campuses being completed during the 2008-2009 fiscal year. With this in mind we have worked hard with campus IT groups, instructional designers, and faculty to identify the first five campus locations. This first group was selected based on our pilot criteria and responses provided to us by campus staff. This summer we will implement Digital Commons Studios at the following campuses: Delaware County, Schuylkill, Harrisburg, Greater Allegheny, and Lehigh Valley.
We are now working with individuals from these five locations to bring the Digital Commons Studios on line before the start of the Fall semester. The University Park Digital Commons team will be working with the other campuses to identify the appropriate timeline for installing the remaining Studios. These installations will be conducted in an ongoing fashion throughout the fiscal year. As a campus indicates readiness, we will begin the process of integrating the studio into the local campus infrastructure.
Thank you for your ongoing interest in this project. Please do not hesitate contacting us at digitalcommons@psu.edu with any questions.
